Happy Harmony Day 2024!

Bringing the whole school together to celebrate cultural diversity, Youth2Industry College’s VCE-VM 3&4 students organised Harmony Day activities this week!

All revolving around inclusiveness, respect and belonging for everyone, we saw our young people engaging in a multitude of engaging activities. They playing team games like dodgeball, which brought out both the competitive and cooperative spirits of the students. An impressive table of orange treats, symbolising the day’s theme. There was also a hand-made photobooth with a backdrop of flags from around the world, allowing everyone to capture fun memories of the day. A DIY pin-making booth allowed everyone to create and wear personalised pins, adding it to their celebration outfits. The entire school also dressed in orange, which really enhanced the sense of school spirit and community.

Harmony Day is part of Harmony Week, a celebration of multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. It is celebrated during the week that includes 21 March, which is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Since 1999, more than 80,000 Harmony Week events have been held across Australia.

Congratulations to our Year 12’s on creating such an engaging afternoon for the school community. All your activities contributed to such a vibrant afternoon for Harmony Day 2024.
