Earlier this week, Youth2Industry College was thrilled to welcome Ryan Batchelor MP to the school for a tour.
A group of our Youth2Voice (student council) members led the tour, showcasing the unique school that Y2IC is and what it has to offer. They started in the main breakout area, which is surrounded by two classrooms and the student kitchen. The environment is sensory sensitive, offering traditional classroom learning alongside a large breakout area. Students have access to self-regulation zones and the kitchen, supporting their needs throughout the day. We also run a Breakfast and Lunch Program, ensuring that students have access to breakfast and a cooked meal at lunchtime.
As they continued the tour, our VCE-VM 3&4 student, Rae, proudly showed Ryan the progress on our upcoming school mural which runs throughout the whole school and explained the inspiration behind the design. The College is excited to reveal the final design later this year during Term 4.
After the tour, Ryan Batchelor MP, our young people, and Principal, Tom, all sat down for a Q&A session. They discussed the significant impact that the school has had on each person’s individual educational journey so far. Highlighting the support Youth2Industry College provides particularly through the wellbeing team and the careers councilor, alongside the small numbers in the classroom enabling students to create close relationships with the teachers and education support staff, whilst having the professional boundaries in place.
Thank you, Ryan, for supporting our school. Everyone involved had a fantastic time, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
